How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture is a form of traditional Chinese medicine that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. It is believed that these points correspond to pathways, or meridians, through which energy, or Qi, flows. By stimulating these points, acupuncture is thought to restore balance and promote healing within the body. The exact mechanisms by which acupuncture works are not fully understood, but it is believed to have both local and systemic effects. Locally, acupuncture can stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals. Systemically, acupuncture may affect the nervous system, immune system, and hormonal system, helping to regulate various bodily functions.
